Lazy Girl Party Tricks

Lazy Girl Party Tricks

I find myself refusing to accept autumn is upon us and yet loving lighting the fire and putting my slippers on at 3pm! (I work for myself, no one to judge, apart from the dog!!).

Anyway, I was playing around with some flowers and trying to decorate a table as we had some friends over and came up with probably the laziest trick for making candles look more interesting.

It's super simple and requires some jam jars, some fancy ribbon and some tea lights. I got my ribbon from Ikea ages ago, but I've seen this done with pretty string, you can use whatever you have about. Cut the string to double the circumference of the jar and tie in a bow. I then filled the jars with water and floated the candles in the jars. I then added some flowers to the mix, I like to clash colours together and picked a little of everything flowering in the garden!!

My mum always complains there are no flowers in the garden after June, well she was wrong. and anyway, who says Autumn means dead leaves and conkers! I wanted to have some colour to go with the jam jars, since the ribbon I found was beautifully simple.

I was really organised and made these first thing in the morning, hence the sunshine, but they looked even better in the evening when the light was lower.
